94 JOSEPH HAYDAK 95 MELANERPIES FORMICIVORUS CV2 14 Aug 9:20 - Nobody seen; some acorns remaining. 1995 1 April: 10:20 - Lots of acorns. No birds seen. 13 April 12:52 - Arrive to check on activity of power struggle observed yesterday by W. Koenig. Today, open arrival, things seem quite. Saw 1 bird fly from granary tree when we arrived. A few minutes later heard some calls from last years nest tree. 21 April 11:00 - All quiet. Today is the first nice (sunny/warm) day during the last week, so I was hoping to see more activity in power struggle. Checked holes - nobody seen. 6 JUNE 11:15 - Checked holes. Nobody seen in a hole, or for that matter anywhere. 13 JUNE 11:00 Saw several birds, but nobody in a hole. Found Primary feathers from one bird (adult?) on ground halfway to nest tree in small canyon. Probably did not die too recently - 2-4 weeks ago? - No bands found. Bird may have been molting, or are these fledgling fathers? Lots of acorns remaining 24 JUNE 11:00 - Nobody seen 10 Aug 16:40 - Lots of acorns remaining in granary; 2 birds seen near holes up small canyon.
