the meadows. These birds stayed a while around the rocks and then left. Other others were heard in the same place. Notice the first Hermit Thrush, here among the low pine and willow growth. A family of [illegible] was about nearby. A Red-shafted Flicker put in his appearance near camp. There were other people about the lake which is fairly large with rocky islands. At the Chipmunks, Douglas Squirrels and Marmots are common everywhere as yet we have seen no B[illegible]
