31 Days DECEMBER 1959 12th Month 272 10 THURSDAY 344-21 Nondugl → Goroka Visited all day with Fred. Native opened a cage + he lost a red bofp which he had hand-reared. Fred gave me information on his various trips. Also a sketch map showing his Mt. Simpson route. Bill Taylor picked me up in Otter about 4:30 p.m. Joe Collins was at airport in Goroka. Invited me home for night: steak, of course! 273 11 FRIDAY 345-20 Goroka → Pt. Moresby Margaret Collins + her 4 children flew to Pt. M, with me. Interesting flight to south coast at Kerema + then S.E. over Yule Island. Saw Alan Willis at Steamships. Dinner with Alan and Winks at their home. Met a Com. James Little there (Aust. Navy, Ret.). Stayed at Papua Hotel. Cable to Hobey + Mimi - on their new home 274 12 SATURDAY 346-19 Port Moresby Visited Mr. + Mrs. Hobart Spiller + daughters Maisie + Miriam at their home in Borotta. Very pleasant afternoon + evening. 2 stamped envelopes to Kay 9 months from home! 275 13 SUNDAY 347-18 Pt. Moresby → Brisbane Mr. + Mrs. Willis called for me at Hotel Papua at 10:30 a.m. Maisie Spiller also called to say goodbye at Jackson's Air- port. Super Connie "Southern Seas".
