Saturday Nov 24. 1928 Charleston to Wilmington We left about 10 o'clock and went north, crossed Cape Creek, and the Santee and went through Kugporel To Florence County with much long-leaved grass; with gum and cypress in the swamps and much Spanish moss. About Florence we were out of the spanish moss. We turned eastward from Florence and soon crossed the Pee Dee a deep wide stream here as elsewhere bearing the marks of three floors. Later we passed the Little Pee Dee, at its tributary the Lumber. The latter, a dark clear stream. The soil was sand & clay at falling concrete. Not b. Ferry to Cape Fear River at Wilmington. Then with many attempts with the usual bites, including some few stakers, 7 Cypresses. Found near Lillie Sun about 20 Tick vultures about whist dog near Mt Holly. Got rooms at the Brunswick
