Monday August 13 The Whittles left between 8 & 9 o'clock for Portland or they away home Alfred took me up to the depot for provisions. Later in the forenoon we went over to Water Village to see Mrs. Eva Pratt. Found her well, all had a pleasant visit. Then we went to the Lower Beech Pond, a deep front- bordered pond rather high in the hills. We then went down to Ossipee and had some lunch there. Then by the "Plaw road" to Pine Run Bridge, near the south side Green Mountain. Then along the northern base past the home of Benn Bromelle, who rides a horse up at the Gulch. We found him getting up a hay from a distant meadow. It says the White River men had old place before they went there
