Friday Oct 3. 16 miles A slight snow flurry in early morning. Left on good time and ran down the valley about 10 miles crossed the Makakalen on log bridge over a canyon. The horses forded a quarter of a mile above forde in forsome mainly subernt below the Makakalen we entered a Creeks burnt fresh and went through it at the afternoons camping Close to the river and minute end of the burn at 3000 feet. Shot rabbit saw porcupine a short distance back of night camp The evening fine. Saturday Oct 4. 16 miles Left Camp at 9.30 and wind wheerwait down the valley. After a couple of miles we took both right and crossed a little ridge to a tributary just through a burn and then down through a green timber. When nearly down to the creek a mountain goat stood 2 years old ran believable late as the former home which he was going. The goat was secured. We ascended the valley of the creek and found on one right a couple of lakes. I camped in the North of the upper lake some about 10 miles.
