Saturday Sept 13. In camp. Remained in camp. Mr. Crows and Jordan climbed the Mt. which lies N.N.E. of our camp, and then circled the valley and climbed another loft. N.N.W. They over [illegible] 2 grizzly bear, black bear, mule deer, caribou and goats, and one of the latter, also one rabbit. signs of rabbits and rare near old camp at 4150 feet Diet in the day collecting and preparing specimens. For our evening The day was mostly without rain, and was very cold for its Miles. Saw more birds than for some time. Sunday Sept 14 6 miles N Rained in night and snow everywhere above timberline. For one weasel in fork and shot a few birds. In afternoon pushed up and started around Mt. toward the Indian Trail I taking a short cut through a valley seen by Crows yesterday. The Trail led through meadows, thickets and woods 2 for about mid afternoon we passed a beaver pond in which one Fox horned Saw an old bear, Jordan and I named White, and by pushing the brush down there out land I shot a small one. We caught up with the others at dusk at camp in balsam sent at the Crest and I an artillery flat. Camp at 4801 feet
