While performing they are plainly visible for a long distance if the ground is open as the contrast of black, white, and orange make a very conspicuous object. Jackson Went over to Mr. Mullin and got some notes on property in the Drap. The Aspen or shuttered places here begin to put out their leaves. In the afternoon I made a trip up the west side of the Drap and went on the latter, crossing the gap which crosses to near Flusk, and then started the west side north road nearly to Chevy the arrow reaching the road near Batchus. On the Batch some person pulled branches off all the willows apparently in good shape and ivied. I saw very few dead ones on the latter. The elk even eating every green thing from the tender tops of the sagebrush. A large Sierra plum with a simple flower-like form seems to be a favorite food.
