Thursday Nov 8. To Athabaska Landing Left at 7.30 and climbed the Lull Torrid Athabaska Landing The route led through a muskeg and then through Poplar and willow woods for several miles, about 15 miles from our stopping place we passed a pond on our right and then some small meadows, near which there was a new house without a tenant. We had dinner here and left at 2.30. The boys then led through a pine thicket for about three miles and then through a piece of oats for a mile or two to the bank of the Athabasca opposite the Landing. The ice had jammed about 2 hours before and we were unable to cross. We were kindly offered the use of a house by a Mrs. Berry, whose husband was across the river unable to get over. Wed. Nov 9 Atha. Landing Dan crossed the river in the morning and shortly after the last of the boys went over. I remained until 8 o'clock evening when they came back and we all crossed to the Landing side taking a boat with many old friends. Here. Put up at the Hotel.
