Friday. Nov. 4. To Moose Portage The beat party left about the middle of the forenoon but we concluded to go by team we could not get away until after dinner. Then we took the road from the Athabasca. It led through pine and then poplar woods and through several prairies where there were haystacks. We walked practically all the way and reached Moose Portage shortly after dark. Distance about 14 miles. Saturday Nov 5 To Fish Camp. Made a good start and left The road which led through spruce and poplar woods The road was bad and we could make but slow time we reached the so called Fish Camp where whitefish are brought out from Calling Lake in winter to be shipped to Edmonton.
