84 6 miles Thursday. Left 8. To near Boulder Creek We made a rather late start having to unpack packs and attend to other things and then crossed the North Fork and followed the old trail down to N. bank. It had once been a good trail but fire burnings have made it difficult to trace and more so to follow, as the trees have choked it completely in places. We made only 5 or 6 miles and camped at Sunset on the South bank heavy crowed above a high bluff Saw very few birds during this day Saw more foxes here and there Red squirrels were fairly common 85 6 miles Friday. Left 9. To near Falls The burning was rainy and we were late in starting. Had to wicross a quarter of a mile below our camp. Then we had a spell of burnt and then several miles of unburnt woods white spruce and fir. Here there was an undergrowth of Rubus rubrum - Rubus (black and hairy) Rubus arcticus Rubus strigivus Rubus triflorus! Echinopanax Alder Viburnum Sorbus Caeruleensis in fruit and ripe and very abundant We crossed Boulder Creek about an hour after leaving camp. we are following a Kith whel as well marked with blazes We camped rather early at the lower end of a patch of green tuber where there had been a camp of prospectors in 1908
