June 19 Made camp on the south bank of the river not far from the fort in a cleared and burnt space in the spr 茫e forest. We took about 20 Chironomous in arro traps which we made up. In the afternoon We put out our traps. my brother trapping near camp while I Climbed the bank and work across to the marsh a half mile or so I found some large run- ways and holes which I supposed to be Mierotus xanthry nathus and set out some traps. After they had remark article I mark the rounds and took out an adult female Xanthognathus. The contained 11. embryos. The holes and runway were in small papero and mello ws on Fathers. Being ground at the edge of the marsh. They burrow quite afternearly forming trenches which connect the holes in some instances and also make bread and plain runway much larger, natur- ally than the ordinary species of Mierotus I set all the traps that the size of the colony guaranteed and as they e did not seem to be very active left them to be visited in the morning when I hope to take more and to find other favorable places for trapping. Found Quercalis to be common in the marsh. also Aylaw's flat some borks including Mimosa, Nylerched a pallas Curcailis. Heard Wore sails in de woods and saw Lesser Gillerleego X Jolton Sandpaper
