June 14 Took a few Mierotus and Peromypeus . But decided to cross the river to get away from the annoyance incident to near proximity g a Post. So we made a camp on the opposite side from the landing a little higher up the river at a point where there was a clearing and which afforded a variety of grounds for trapping. We set out a lot of traps finding signs of Mierotus plentiful and before night took a number of specimen. June 15 Took over 20 mammals, Mierotus, Eostomys & Peromypeus incidentally two species. Also took a number of decorable birds including a pigeon Hawk As we had a large lot of specimens we were kept busy all the afternoon, preparing them The locality where we are encamping consists - namely 2 small rocky hills scantily wooded with poplar, a little pme etc. Between the ledges which constitute the hills, are swampy areas some wooded and some with only a scattering growth of Tamaracke spruce etc growing in that mass of sphagnumk A large portion of the country has been forested and has come up with young poplars mainly Tremulodes. June 16 Took a Lynoptomy among other specimens in our traps and two Sorek. Shot Eupedonal flavocutrus & mummmus. Reset a good many of my traps in swampy woods near camp in hopes of getting more Lynoptomy & Sorek. Saw a flock of Canada Geese. Which contained one or two very small ones probably hutchlensis Saw several species of ducks elsewhere record is Fouda Juvens rich with young nearly ready to fly.
