Owls nearly ready to leave the nest. I set two steel traps on jpslles at this spot in hopes of catching the old one Shot a warbling vird in the fromp near Camp. While I was examining the young owls a small bat flew up from the debris of the stub and flew away through the woods I was unable to secure it or ee see where it took refuge Jane E. On going to my Traps in the morning I found the 7 Red. owl in one and in the other a fine small Rosabreath in my small traps I took Cored Mierites Eutromp of Peromyceus. The Owl caught had a Miertis in his claw. In the hole occupied by the owls was a mass of hard and bones Mierstes Peromyspers Eutromp an inch and a half thick. The stomachs of the young owls were filled with the remains I Peromyceus Mierstis Hortongy The stomach of the old one was empty. Shot a fine male Rosabreath Rosobretis near Camp where he was spanning. Found a hed Pintail on an island near camp. It was at the edge of a thicket and was camphed wholly of the down from the breast of the parent, arranged between pieces of driftwood. Took one a nest of Spotted Shudp CHAPTER containing 3 eggs. One normal one about half size and one about as big as a snook some egg. Tock Peromyceus Eutromp and heard song? Over land plot was unable to find the food. Saw Several Tracks of moose near camp, none very fresh. However and found a nest of Empredonal containing 4 eggs
