July 15, 1905, Saturday, (Continued)
Scaumenac Brook is a wild and rocky gorge for
a half mile or so- the most picturesque place
we have seen. At the railroad bridge we waited
for nearly on hour for Mr. Robertson to come.
He finally arrived in [illegible] three teams and we
arrived at the Cascapedia House in time for a late
supper.
July 16, 1905, Sunday
Clear and cool. Worked all day on plants.
In the P. M. Ames, Fernald, and I rode out to
Goose Pond and botanized there for two hours.
After supper we worked some more on plants.
July 17, 1905, Monday
Cloudy and at times threatening or raining.
Worked in shed(on plants) before breakfast. About
9.00 A. M. Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Miss Waring,
Fernald, and I started for New River where we
found our canoes waiting. Mrs. Williams and Miss
Waring went in a canoe with Mr. Burton and his
brother- they went down river and fished. Williams
had Dimock and Burton, and Fernald and I had the
same men as on the Grande Cascapedia River. We
went up six miles and then turned back. Got
severel sets of plants. We were met near railroad
depot by our teams. In the evening Williams,
Fernald, and I went down to Bois' house to see
a map he had.
