Agrotis (Eurvis) astrata Mw. Eggs laid Aug. 15'. Salomirian N.F. Hatched Aug. 24. Egg 22. flattened, Surface broken by ridges (about 34 many distinct at slight diagonal white lines from inner reticulated ridges about apex formed by thickening a little of Egg - egg, which also connects the above mentioned ridges. First stage. Liquid with green refl. from intestinal contents - A number of clear black (rather large) tubercles w. each a black curved hair. Then are 2 and dorsal the posterior slightly exterior (2) a cup. stigma - just above each spiracle. 3/4 a stigmata just por- Each spiracle, 1/4 sub. Lat., curved below each spiracle Or 2-3 then one forms a row of dots the upper sub-indian dorsal running down and forward to stigmata. with a larger tubercle inside. Below and post to this at base of each proleg. On 1 The brownish fringed plate contains four on either side with a row of lines running from 1 pair of prolegs from its post margin the middle of these ant. spiracle and ant. Vt. Other two - On 5-3 on either side, the median ventral line arranged in D the base part and the other tubercle much the largest. On 4 are 2 con't to post 2 of Vt's. Prolegs light-brown yellowish - brown ringed or partly ringed with black & w. few short hairs. Head with w. few black dots, many short hairs. Two ant. pairs of legs not- functional. 2nd stage. Color red brown, a dorsal and S.D. white streaks the Celtic with an indistinct line just below it. A broad creamy Calamal band. Suboral. whitish ringed. Beneath green & brown flecks. Head tinged w. yellowish. 3rd Stage Lep. 3. Much as before Vt's and brown hairier. Dorsal parts lightly ad- redder than rest with some nothing and distinct black dots (tubercles). Lateral red hairiness in same color. Under parts, Tiffined w. red. Head brownish w. black vts. 1.8 cm
