Wed, Oct. 27 There was much noise on the street last night and that with my thinking of our getting away disturbed my sleep. I finally got up at about 3, and was all ready with my luggage at six. We were at the beach for seven luck did not sail (The Rhino-Baly) until 8. Had break fast aboard and had a fine sail up the wash with good views of Mt Rhino Baly and arrived at Tran Han Bay, apparently no town at 11. Thus we found coolies to take our luggage and after a walk of a mile and a boat ferry we found farmers and pack cattle. "Bawfield" my man could not carry my pony and I walked fully half the way; most of it through a low swampy plain and I got pretty wet. I took the latter path of the way and we reached Bota Belud about 5 and found Mr. Beattiebury the District Officer waiting for us. Went to our house and later chaplain and I dined with him. I stayed for a chat & drink later.
