July 11, 1953 No: 122 Flowers and fruit. Composite. Rays yellow with a red-brown base, disk red-brown when not blooming yellow, while blooming. The diskal rays blooms in a narrowing having inside wit the brown buds, and outside the tinnish achenes, so that the plant, while blooming, has the appearance of having a striped head. Best soil - gravelly sand. - Birkken, 'Texas Co, Texas. 1-2yft. erect. Coll. B.N.G. Groth.
