Koford 18 Journal February 12, 1955. Nr. Ft. Collins, Colo. Overcast, calm, cold (20°F. at 9 a.m.). Visited Spring Canyon Dam colony turni + Loveland (Gary Jordan) colony of Cynomyx mice. No Cynomyx taken but 2 steel traps left out for them. Warm suns in afternoon. Mice trichromosum (Peromyscus maniculatus) seen several places in Colo. colony. February 13, 1955. Larimer Co., Colo. Temps. to perhaps 55° during day; clear calm. Much snow melting. Visited traps for Cynomyx at 2 localities but none taken. Took up Loveland traps. Set 4 new ms. Ft. Collins 20-8 steel trap out for Cynomyx mice. Left 1-8×8' live trap out near active burrows. Saw Lewis woodpecker (2) today, also limit. Butto loggers fairly common. February 14, 1955. Office work. Overcast morning, clear late after- noon, with temps. to 50°F. Set 2 more Cynomyx traps so 10 out. No catch. February 15, 1955. Half overcast, increasingly cloudy. About 40°F. max. Drove to Cynomyx colony near the Fords. Shot 3, lost 3 wounded, 4 saw many. One taken in steel trap near Ft. Collins. Feb. 16, 1955. Examined carcasses. Trapped 2 more Cynomyx near town. Clear warm day. Feb. 17, 1955. Denver, Colo. Drove to Denver. Visited Penfold of Syrah Walter League & Fish & Wildlife Lab, now at Federal Center. Returned to Ft. Collins. Half overcast but fairly warm (60°-7°) today.
