January 24, 1955 Larimer Co, Colorado.
Office work in morning. Light snow last night. Visited
Cynomya towns near Wellingtons. Saw: 1 Cercus, 1 Agnula,
1 Butio lagopus, many Otocin. Drove snow to Owl Creek
back to Ft. Collins.
January 25. Partly overcast; warm in afternoon (40°?) 4mo
winds. Worked in Red Library morning. In afternoon visited
Cynomya colony near town & saw some out. Snow melted much.
January 26,1955. NE Larimer Co.
I drove from Ft. C. toward Laramie & investigated gongy colony
3 mi. WSW of Steamboat Rock. Talked with M.Ferree (owner), &
Lloyd Halston of Red Top Station about Cynomya. Shot 3 Cynomya
for examination & saw more than 20 out. Partly overcast,
about 35°F. max. temp. & moderate breeze. Returned to Ft. Collins
for the night. Examined 3 carcasses Cynomya.
January 27,1955. Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Examined droppings, coyote scat, hair, at Cob.ATM.
January 28, 1955 Nr. Loveland, Larimer Co, Colo.
Visited 2 Cynomya colonies near Loveland. Saw
Cynomya out. Saw: Cercus ludovicianus but no eagles or
Butios. Saw cottontails but no Lepus. Saw several lodge
digging. Nearly clear today but cold moderate breeze
in afternoon. Guy Jordan ranch 6 mi. SW of Loveland good
place for general rodent trapping.
January 29 NW weld Co., Colo.
With family drove N. on highway 95, then E. to Carr's Rock-
pat. Briefly visited Acorn's Basin ranch, then to C.P.E.R.
Looked over two old Cynomya colonies in vicinity & another
