Koford 1955 Journal January 15, 1955 Laramie, Wyoming. [illegible], of zoology dept. Met Fantini at Univ. Wyo. & late at home & talked about plans & procedures for my Cynomy study. The Snowy Range about 40mi. W. of Laramie seems to have much snow on it. Windy in Laramie (7150' elev.). Much sheep grazing in this region of Wyoming, according to R.W.F. Dicht, Head of U.S.F.S. stated here & might be of some help to me, said F. Nolf overcoat in afternoon. #Drove to Cheyenne, quickly getting into pinyon & Ponderosa pine upon ascending the range east of Laramie. Shortly before reaching Cheyenne for W., wonderful view of vast plains of short grass in that area & to E. & S. Cheyenne fairly large, dirty, & bustling. Quarter of Warren Livestock Co. which patrols much land in Wyo. & Colo. prairie dog county. Continued on to Ft. Collins in evening. Saw 2 jadelallite near road (highway 87) at night. Still about 3" snow on ground in Cheyenne area but none in town of Laramie (15000 population). January 17, 1955. Ft. Collins, Colo. Snow in night & a little today (2" total). Office works, January 18, 1955 Weld Co., Colo. Drove to Briggsdale & talked with W. Williamson, U.S.F.S; about Cynomy colonies. Then talked with Mr. Jenkins, postmaster & crop-duster (flier) of Briggsdale, & with Willard Frank, long resident of that town. Then Drove to Bovver, about 8mi. E. to see Pawnee Buttes from top (sandstone outcrop 200±' high), then to C.P.E.R. Saw 12± Butis lagopus; 1 Falco
