Roford 87 Cynomys ludovicianus April 14, 1955 NW weld G., G6. 1938. Then there was a single dog seen there for a few years (presumably a male) until 1952. Another then seen there (?), and soon both gone, perhaps a good place to look for efforts on succession. April 12, 1955 NE Larimer G., G6. Clear a forty, little wind. Arrived Wellington preserve today 7:50 a.m. + observe C.L. in horse pasture just S. of it. old planted field Gate #8 #7 sc#6 2 109 Distichlis s. 1 Horse pasture heavily bare ground (Distichlis s.) Dike Ditch Preserve area - many dogs - fed grain Counted 16 C.L. about as above, Staked 8 burrows. One spotted seen at #5 (1 pellet found), two at #6 (two pellets). Three horses in W. part pasture. Most ground bare with occasional bare of cropped grass. Large area Distichlis stricta about 4" high with some Koelzinia mixed. Burrows seen in this (drained some season?). At 8 a.m. one (3 block spots left side block, none on right) 50-40 yds. NW of #4 got large mouthful grass (Distichlis) (4 prob. Koelzinia) about 6" long & carried this crosswise in mouth to #4 ant burrow. (On Wellington 10' from builder in ground juncture). Another (appx. from #3) came to entrance. The first out 1 min. later. They nose each other nose, mouths open. One then goes jump up & roll, then other. Scared one went for more grass. 0 den not mouth burrow #4. Searched one into Distichlis Pond ↓N Cattails 165 yds #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 sc
