Roford 1954 Journal December 13, 1954 Ft. Collins, Colorado. experimental range N. of Nunn where I can probably work too. A map shown to me by Harry showed that be nearly all of Wild Co. (4 pts. adjacent) was in a comparatively dry area, rainfall 13-15," & apparently thin center of livestock rather than wheat region. December 14, 1954. Visited College Landsmen of Ft.C., whose old Cynomye town. Read thesis by Dana on cottontail- prairie dog relationships [Sent by Lee Goggin]. December 15, 1954. Talked with G.E.Klippel, in charge of Central Plains Range Experiment Station (near Nunn). Have been provided working space in Forst. Rge. Exp. Sta., Forestry Bldg., Colo. A.+M. Started reading King's thesis on Wild Cave Prairie Dogs. Meeting of Rod & Gun Club in Cue. Met James Cole, Prof. Wagon, & many other there. December 17, 1954. With Lemony Crawford visited a Cynomye Eudoricius town on a "game preserve" about 2 miles east of Wellington. This 80 acres a demonstration area of local sportsmen. They put out much cover (Bramble, stumps, wire) & feed, & topped carrion (shunker & lousecote monthly) there, & had introduced quail (scaled?). December 18, 1954. Took a trip about 30 miles beyond to west thru Masonville & up Buckhorn Canyon. Rod sicy at higher levels (8000') in sheds. Saw a prairie dog burrow (C. sp.?) at about 7000 ft. (no dogs). December 19, 1954. Comparatively warm but windy. With family visited "game preserve" near Wellington and photoged Prairie dogs.
