Koford
Cynomys ludovicianus
December 30, 1954.
Nr. Ft. Collins, Colo.,
of these open on one side but not purely set in. Near
our crater, trochu went to a piece of dry Salada (p. 1)
About 200 yds. west of C7 on a 10% N. facing slope
I found our crater (C10) with trochu going 3 yards out
and back. 40 yds. NW of C10, nearest of
a group of 3 lammers with trochu between,
C13
O = -- 15yds.
H12 → North
There holes open.
No signs eating.
One troch showed jumping gait, apparently feet leading
nearly together, jumps 18" long, with scrapes
of feet converging (ordiving?) to troch; thus:
≥88 ≥88 → this way?
{1<16"→?}
Scratch
Burns mound ridge clear of snow so conspicuous
in all this area. At least 50 fair lammers present
but none today appeared to have forlorn looks due
to them. Trochra seen may have represented 3
individuals, 2 using 3 holes, 1 using 2. Little or
no feeding. Some trochra rather aimless. Not
follow same path twice, necessarily. This
is very much overgrazed area with mostly bare
ground. Same as visited Dec. 11 (but some active
lammers not found).
