Koford Cynomys ludovicianus December 29, 1954 Ft. Collins, Colorado. We an especially great number. On one occasion in the Roosevelt N.F. they had planted grass seed on an experimental plot. Some animals ate the greenery. This proved to be prairie dog wolf, but whose came from unknown. I visited office of the County Agent, Donald Mc Mullen. He was out. Secretary told me that they sold strychnine poisoned oats there to farmers wanting to poison rodents. Other control work was under Mr. Roy Fugate, Field Wildlife Director, Denver. Norton Merin of Ft. Collins had some local catel wolf last year, on salary from county. December 30, 1954 at about noon I visited colony (SW ¼ Sec. 33) ½ mile SE of foot of Spring Canyon Dam. I saw two dogs out atop mound and investigated that area. Snow 2-3" deep, bright sunshine, + warm in sun. Air temp. probably < 40°F. Many rabbit trails in snow. Dog or coyote trots past burrows.
