Koford 54 Journal December 16, 1955 Larimer & Weld Cos. Colo. Clear & rather warm, but strong W. wind which melted much snow. Visited 2 Cypryns colonies but saw none. Saw 3 Buteo lagopus in drive of 60 miles (to CPER & return). Nr. Wellington, Colo. December 18, 1955 Picked up steel traps set for Cypryns. No catch. Cold and partly overcast today. December 20, 1955 Nr. Ft. Collins Colo. Warm today & much melting of snow. At local colony I saw 12 Cypryns out feeding & set 10 steel traps at bur- ows. Lee Albee, SCS, Rapid City, S. Dakota, writes that they have had 6 or 7 weeks of winter & much snow there. December 21, 1955 Warm, calm, overcast; much melting of snow. Visited traps. Took one Cypryns. Set 4 additional traps, so 14 out. December 23, 1955 Again warm, calm, overcast. Visited traps & took 1 Cypryns (07191). Much melting of snow; ground muddy. December 24, 1955 Warm but mainly yesterday; calm & warm today - perhaps best weather since early November. Checked Cypryns traps & took 1 Sylpholagus. Visited Willing- ton preserve colony & photoged of bison. December 25, 1955 Checked local Cypryns traps; no catch. Warm, calm, partly overcast. December 26, 1955 Visited CPER colony & shot 3 Cypryns for examination. Took up all traps near Ft. Collins. Warm, calm, partly overcast. December 31, 1955 Departed Colo. to Calif. Weather remained fairly warm. Departed in a.m. & drove to Blumwood Springs runway back to MVZ at Berkeley, Calif.
