Rd Brown 1960 species accounts - Bernard, #13 Christmas Island Shearwater slugsan 10.16 20.2/June Scattered individuals of this species are noted over the entire island, but a few concentrations exist: ① along beach areas with large rocks many birds can be seen lying about at night. ② although it is impossible to check much of the dense Leaevola, the number of birds flying over these areas, (notably the west beach fringe if scarcely) indicates that a considerable high population is nesting beneath these shrubs. Birds picked up at night show broad patches, so undoubtedly only eggs are now present. The total population is probably not over a thousand birds.
