RSburni 1966 Brown Bobby Lisnandis 16-19 june A small colony of 7 pair were found nesting on the west shore near the main landing; 3 nests with eggs, 4 with chicks. Scattered individuals are found roosting on other parts of the island. A few individuals caught for blood work appeared to be exceptionally small and light (wt) compared to the northern bird. One other small group of ca. 2 pair were noted the last night 5. of the main landing near the west shore. Conservative estimate of 100 birds. Rd. Eisoni 1966. Red-footed Bobby Lisnandis 16-19 june Had little chance to actually check the interior population. Shilton estimates 1000 birds with actual nest count of 33 (young 0 23 as pogo). I believe population closer to 2000 birds as the number of roosting birds which come in at night is considerably larger. One orange-streaked Sand-Sandston bird was captured and another was tested with either fresh orange or red color = S. Stilston or more likely French Frigate Shoals = Benin.
