Russula Pilei ± 6 cm diam, slightly depressed over disc. probably viscid now [illegible] glabrous margin only faintly striate, diamine brown, somewhat maculate with lighter and darker areas, pellicle not separable; flesh white, thin, taste mild agreeable; stipe white, fibrous, smooth, 2 cm x 16 mm Grassy hillside under Quercus Specimens examined Costa Rica: San Jose, Rancho Redondo, 2250 m, Dodge & Thomas 5404
