Russula (Painting C x 4/3) Pileus 4 cm. diam., irregular, disc, warm-buff, rest maculate of buffsm vinaceous & drabs, and even a little pink flesh, thick, white, taste, mild, pellicle, not easily separable, surface dull, dry; gills narrow, crowded, adnate, white; stipe white, subsulcate, 5.5 cm. # 4-15 mm., fleshy-spongy. Specimens examined: Costa Rica, San Jose? Finca Santa Rosa, Alt. 2580 m., Dodge & Thomas 5219
