Pileus expanded,broadly umbonate, tomentose, scaly,
brown on a white or slightly purplish background, margin thin,
lacerate; flesh thick on disc, thin on margin; gills free,dis-
tant, becoming purple-brown, crowded, ventricose; annulus
thick, spreading, nearly free; stipe tapering up ward,white,
silky; pileus 6.5 cm. diameter;stipe 5.5 long # 6 mm. diam.
above, 1 cm. diamter below.
