Lactarius Pileus convex-expanded up to 2 cm diam, slightly hygrophanous velvety, mummy brown to buckthorn brown; flesh thick,buckthorn brown with tawny spots after cutting, very watery, edges thin, inrolled gills very narrow, close thick, mustard yellow to citron yellow subdecurrent; stipe concolor with pileus up to 2 cm x 3 mm above, 5 mm below, lowerhalf imbedded in soil which clings tenaciously as a pseudovolva.on On steep loess banks of roadside Specimens examined Costa Rica: San Jose, Rancho Redondo 2300 m, Dodge & Thomas 4993
