Lactarius
Pileus hemispheric, 1.5cm., partly expanded, fibrillose, somewhat scaly,
warm sepia or darker; flesh thick on disc, then abruptly thin, whitish
when first cut, browning slightly on exposure
Gills white, crowded, very narrow
Stipe 2.5cm. x 5-7mm. below center eaten by larvae, flesh not browning
as fast as pileus, surface fibrillose, striate, warm sepia or lighter
On earth on bank above quebrada
Costa Rica, San José prov., Guayabillos, 2300m.
