Lactarius Pileus 14cm., expanded, nearly flat, umbilicate; surface viscid when moist Dresden brown or irregularly lighter, spotted especially on disc; margin smooth, thin; flesh moderately thick (1cm.), thinning gradually; milk watery, becoming testaceous, finally blackening Gills white, staining testaceous & finally black, ventricose, adnexed, moderately close Stipe 7cm. x 2.5mm. in diameter, white, fibrous, staining brownish where handled carefully, solid. In edge of forest along Quebrada Costa Rica, San José prov, Guayabillos, 2300m. 7-10-36 Dodge & Goerger
