Hygrophorus Pileus old, dry when collected, up to 1.5 # 2 cm., smooth & shining (probably viscld), ochraceous-buff to och- raceous-tawny, hemispheric, margin inrolled; flesh very thick, white; gills adnate, decurrent by line, thick, subdistant, ochraceous-buff; stipe thick, fleshy, continuous with flesh, fibrillose below, evanescent ring, becoming shining, (viscid) 15 # 6 mm.
