C961-3 Carol J James Devil's Hole, Ash Meadows, Nye Co., Nevada. 21 June 1967 0600 - 1320 hr. DST C. James, S. James, & Jim Tener Initial Observations: Weather - clean Wind - gentle General condition: Floating algae present at SW edge Algae on shelf in good condition. Scum much reduced, esp. over algae and shelf. Activity: 0905 hrs. - >100 fish on shelf. Very small (~5mm) fish seen in shady portion of shelf. Attempted breeding observed on NE corner of shelf. Group of males together. Larger individuals seem to prefer deeper water. Medium & small fish frequent surface. Fairly inactive - random movement - stationary in algae; frequently hide in algae. No territories observed Collection: Trapping. Traps lined with 1/32" wire mesh No bait used. Set according to map Total - 17 traps.
