Laboratory Aquarium - C. diabolis
24 September 1967 -
1830hr
Put (12) young Cyprinodon diabolis into
prepared 10 gal. aquarium. Aquarium
contains plants, & gravel. Filter present, but
inefficient. Water temperature according to the
aquarium thermometer - 88°C. Two fish injured
slightly due to handling while transferring to tank.
Others seem fine. Six planaria and two
beetles (from Devil's Hole) were also introduced
into the aquarium.
2100hr
Checked fish. All seemed fine and active.
Put in some frozen brine shrimp as food.
25 September
Water temp = 90°F. according to the aquarium
thermometer. This was measured with an
accurate centigrade thermometer and a temp
of above 94°C was recorded. I reduced the heater
to level.
26 September
1600hr
Aquarium temp (registered on inaccurate
thermometer) is 84°F. Turned heater up.
Replaced filter, saw airstone & more oxygen
