1600 hrs. - Arrived back at Devil's Nole +
found 15 fish on the seine with
Good activity on the shelf (no estimate
Taken but fish numerous). Seine
was ineffective in obtaining a
good sample because the population level
is not extremely high (as it was
when the seine was used successfully -
the fish used various water levels
more frequently) and fish
almost entirely restrict their
movements to the rock surface.
The rod frame of the seine and
the irregularities of the rocks on
the shelf result in the fish
going under the seine instead of
over it.
Time from approx. 1600 - 1800 hrs. was
used dip netting with a 4 x 6"
dip net.
While dip netting, several observations
were made as follows:
A large # of adults were
frightened over the ledge to
the lower shelf, but as
time passed + we continued
