CJS 67-2 Carol J. James Devil's Nole, Ash Meadows, Nye Co., Nevada. 17 June 1967 0900 - 1500 hrs. DST C. James & Vera James Initial Observations: Weather - clear General Condition - Algae abundant. Floating algae at S. edge of upper shelf. Saum present until disturbed - shift even when not disturbed. Activity - 7/100 on upper shelf at 0900 hrs. Many at surface - incl. both small adults and young. Larger adults stay mostly at bottom around rocks. Young observed frequenting shallow southern edge of upper shelf. Again - slight schooling. No territoriality. Some breeding activity (but very little) Planaria around floating algae. Also seen swimming in mid water (surface) + around rocks in deeper portion of upper shelf. Collection - Bait not effective Trapping: This time we decided to see if bait made any difference in number captured per trap, so two traps were set - about 1½' away from each other - in each instance, one baited, one not. Floater + sinkers
