0900hs ~75 fish on shelf. Most adults. Many
gathering at "grey" areas which have only a
very little algae at them (slight tinge of dr.green).
Significant # of juveniles also present.
Feeding + milling activity.
Cage - large mat of algae still in cage
although very dark green (4 rocks - no algae)
Small mats (3x5") of dr. algae also
scattered on eastern side of shelf.
0900 hs. - Seem to be more fish on the
upper shelf now than 0850-0855. (Fewer
at 0850 because of frightening?)
Now can easily count 50 - then
could only count 25-30.
Probably 75-100 fish on shelf now.
Snail.
Collection - Two large (long handled)
dip nets - one y large & one y small mesh
fish can swim through -
sample smaller than would
have been if small mesh not available.
Fish school when frightened. They are
easily frightened by any movement at
all - are scared down to depths
(over ledge) of 6+ ft. & do not
readily come back up.
