Initial observations:
Weather - some clouds but clear over "hole"
area. No wind.
General Condition - Algae in very good
condition - more abundant than I've
ever seen it. Algae very abundant on
NE sloping rock - in scattered, heavy
custers ("bubbles") of algae), especially
on the N. & NW portion of that rock.
In this area, the algae resembles
a bubbling volcano (this area is
quit shallow). Floating algae abundant
on West edge of upper shelf.
The SE portion of the shelf appears very
grey - see previous notes on
grey matter.
Scum very broken - v. little left.
Most of area of water clear. Some 1-2"
patched of scum over upper shelf.
Activity - When we arrived, the hole was
completely in shadows (rocks as well as
water). Only ~50 fish on surface
~200-250 on shelf - all
sizes but many small.
(juvenile & 2m. adults)
They were feeding - most of them observed
feed (as before recorded) on the grey
