was successful in some instances, but
caused panic among some fish. Investigate
use of MS222.
No light reading taken (telethermometer
malfunctioning) at 1935 hrs. - O2 = 0.5 (shlf)
+ temp of water at surface = 33.8°C.
(shlf)
Fish were taken again when the umbrella
net was raised the second time (this time -
~75). These were added to the other in styrofoam
cooler and five pictures were taken - dividing
the fish arbitrarily into 5 groups to facilitate measuring
from slides.
Six of these fish (group) /♀ < 2♂ were preserved in
10% formaldehyde (w/copper sulfate). Again, these are included
in the slides. All others released.
Seeming increase in # of ♀ (or at least proportion of
♀ to ♂). Not substantiated, however, because of
hurry due to impending darkness.
Slides did not develop well - no
measurements possible.
