(Prior to this, Curtis has been working as an overseer on a coconut plantation on Tahiti. This is not a chronological journal, but is based upon letters which Curtis wrote. He refers to E.H.Quayle as "W".) N. Letters and journal of José G. Correia, volume 1, January 31, 1923 to December 1, 1925. (This journal was written in Portuguese and translated at the American Museum. In addition to giving a general narrative of activities, it contains observations on the birds observed and of their general environment.
