J. Rodgers-1939 Itinerary, etc. Aug 29 Mrs. Vert. Zool., Univ. Calif., Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. The following are notes that seem of casual significance. Throughout July and early August Cal. Jays were very rare on the west end of the campus (as far as I know they were rare on the whole campus and throughout town). Aug 18 rain was predicted. Aug. 19 and 20 were cloudy days and it looked like it should be raining, but it didn't. On the 19th and 20th jays were heard several times around the Life Sciences Building, 4 or 5 times per day by me. Since then I have heard them almost every day on the west end of the campus and four or five times in town along Oxford St. or between Oxford and Milvia or near Cedar or Vine sta. When tits were heard by me, on the western end of the campus around July 13 and 14 and occasionally ever since then. A Calif. Thrasher was reported at the creek 200 ft s of the Life Science Building Aug. 24. This morning, Aug. 29, I heard Song Sparrows singing at home (2019 Vine St.) and s of L.S.B. more than any many this fall. Aug. 30 Mrs. Vert. Zool., Univ. Calif., Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Song Sparrows singing this morning; heard jays 3 times between home & L.S.B. Last 3 or 4 mornings more crisp than before.
