Itinerary and other notes
April 13
April 13, 1939. Mus.Vert.Zool., Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif
On the campus, I have not recorded a Dwarf Hermit
Thrush since April 1; neither have I recorded a Ruby-
crowned Kinglet since then. Audobon Warblers were
heard April 11, but have been very uncommon since about
March 25. Golden-crowned Sparrows were recorded April
12. A Townsend Solitaire was seen several times on the
campus this spring, the most recent record is Mar. 25.
At the Berkeley Aquatic Park, April 10, I saw about 6
Canvas-back Ducks, and 1 American Pipit.
Pileolated Warblers first appeared in Strawberry
Canyon sometime between Mar. 25 and April 1, while
Lutescent Warblers arrived between Mar. 11 and Mar. 18.
Tolmie and California Yellow Warblers were both reported
there April 9.
Chipping Sparrow was reported on the campus April 8
(Bert Jones).
Feb. 15, on the campus, Robert Taylor and Bert Jones
found 7 Bush-tit nests, from then on they found the
nests regularly. April 11, they were watching 37 and
had quit trying to find more. On this date the first
young left the nest, and most of the 37 had young in the
nest.
Cliff Swallows have been seen on the campus since
April 8 or earlier. There are only 3 or 4 pairs so far.
I heard my first Calif. Yellow Warbler on the campus
this morning, April 13.
April 14. Golden-c. Sparrow still in Strawberry Canyon.
