Black Hawk Ranch, 4½ mi. SSE Mt. Diablo,
Contra Costa Co., Calif.
the east side of Livermore Valley. Passajers
Creek flows south into Livermore Valley
from its head to the NE of no, against
the head of Marsh Creek.
The steep south-facing slope up which
we just climbed is covered with black
lodge and some [illegible]. About
two-thirds of the way up is a rocky
cliff around which we saw two
Prairie Falcons flying. The top of the
ridge (running WNW-ESE) is grass
covered, with a few clumps of
Umbellulana — hollow and may
outcropping of rocks. The north-
facing slopes covered with oaks
and buckey, and many big areas
of a blue lupin which stands two
or three feet high (bowl). We
collected four skinks, two gopher
snakes, a Leptodira [illegible],
a Lampetis g. Buytis and about
30 Selopoma. None of the Selopoma
are in the catalog; some were released
in my backyard (2019 Vine St., Berkeley)
and some were given to Emmitt Cooper
to send to Michigan. We also collected
