Tunnel, looking for a place to be out of the wind.
In one of the caves, we found a bat and finally
got it by knocking it down with a hat. Johnson
put it up. There was strong smell of exploded
dynamite in one cave and several boxes of
unexploded dynamite in the other. We chose the
latter as sleeping quarters
June 10, 1938
This morning I walked up the canyon, back
of the house, to the tunnel, then south up
onto the ridge, down (southeast) into the desert, and
north along the foot of the hills, back to Mitchell's.
I got a big Crotalina mitchellii about 200 yards
up the canyon from the house. The sky has been
clear today and the temperature between 80°
and 83°. The wind has come up this afternoon,
and is blowing hard now, 43 d. Dave just
returned from a hike up on the ridge, and has a
complete mountain sheep skeleton.

After lunch on June 10, we packed up and
left Mitchell's Caverns. We traveled to a
