J. Rodgers 130 2mi. ESE Rock Springs, 4700 ft., Lanfair Valley, San Bernardino Co., Calif. June 5, 1938 We arrived here from Cedar Canyon, yesterday afternoon is time to hunt a while, and set traps before supper. It was very windy in the afternoon, but quieted down by 6:30. After supper Arvey shot several Texas Night-hawks. It is now 8:05 am and the air is quiet; only an occasional light breeze. Between 10 and 12 this morning, I walked south about 2 miles and back. On the way down I crossed the old government road near the remains of a stone house. Nearly a mile from here I climbed up and over two big capped outcrops. On top of the second one I saw a collared lizard and Sceloporus occidentalis. On the lava bluff and tallue slopes of both, I saw much bird dropping. From the top of the second, largest one I could look down into a long sandy wash that heads at Rock Springs and disappears to the SE around Nachberg Mt. Directly south I could see the last traces of what might once have been a farm. Directly west on the higher alluvial land beyond the wash I could see a cabin. I went down into the wash and found that, unlike the higher country around, there was mesquite growing there. I collected one Caltisaurus, and saw another, and saw several Cnemidophorus. I crossed the old gov't. Road again about 200 yards east of where it comes up out of the wash. From here, looking slightly north
