Oct.10,1938 SE corner Life Sciences Building,
Univ. Calif, Berkeley, Calif. winter
visitant birds. Yesterday, I was not
on the campus. This morning, immediately
upon my arrival, I saw and heard
/ Townsend Warbler, / Ruby-crowned
Kinglet and several Anambon Warblers.
I have heard that Anambon
Warblers were reported in Strawberry
Canyon two or three days ago. Last
year I found Townsend Warblers in
the canyon before I found them on the
lower campus, and in the spring I
have watched progressive records (my
own others) of Western Flycatcher
from the canyon to the lower campus
over a period of 3 to 5 day.
Oct.12,1938 The last 6 or 7 mornings, I
have arrived on the campus between 7:45
and 8:30, and have not heard or seen
Swarf Hermit Thrushes. This morning, at 6:45,
I heard 3 and saw one (1) of three) between the
Life Sciences Building and the west
entrance to the campus.. At 4:30 this
morning, during 15 minutes' walk
from Pine St. to the campus, I heard Hillier
Call 506 times, but heard no other birds overhead. The moon
was shining brightly this morning. The last
morning that I was out, and heard bird overhead, the wind,
