We had 20 days of rain, 2 days of clear weather, 2
days of rain, and on this day, a clear though hazy
one, the birds were much more noisy than
during the two clear days two days ago. I heard
Purple Finch in full song and Anderson Warbler
singing.
Elmer Aldrich recorded Suttecent Warbler
for the first time this season on Feb. 16, in Strawberry
Canyon.
Mar.21,1938 Dr. Milla reported Cliff Swallows
for the first time on the campus to-day. Elmer
Aldrich saw them yesterday.
March 27,1938 1636 Grant St., Berkeley, Calif.
To-day while working in the garden (a bright
sunny day) I heard many gulls high over
head. I soon spotted a bunch 21 to 35 circling
so high in the air that it took several seconds
to pick them up even tho I could look
directly toward them guided by sound. The
longer I looked the more gulls I could see,
until I counted at least 155. They were in
several bunches, and moved slowly
in a northwesterly direction.
April 6, 1938 Univ. Calif. Campus, Berkeley, Calif.
This morning in the trees along Strawberry
Creek, SW of the Life Sciences Building, I
heard my first Western Flycatcher (the 24th). mother April 7.
